Sliding wear behavior of high velocity arc sprayed Fe-Al coating

摘要 ThefrictionandwearbehaviorofFe-Alintermetallicsbasedcoatingproducedbyhighvelocityarcsprayingtechniqueunderdryslidingatroomtemperaturewereinvestigatedusingaball-on-disctribotester.Theeffectofslidingspeedonfrictioncoefficientandwearofthecoatingwasstudied.Thewornsurfaceofthecoatingwasanalyzedbyscanningelectronmicroscope(SEM)toexploreslidingfrictionandwearmechanism.Theresultsshowthatthevariationsoffrictioncoefficientcanbedividedintothreedistinctstepsduringthetrail.Boththefrictioncoefficientandthewearofthecoatingincreasewithincreasedslidingspeedduetoacceleratedcrackpropagationrateandlamellarstructurewithpoorductilityofthecoating.Thecoatingsurfaceissubjectedtoalternatelytensilestressandcompressionstressduringslidingwearprocess,andthepredominantwearmechanismofthecoatingsappearstobebrittlefractureanddelamination.
