摘要 Fieldsurveysindicatelateralvariationinpeathumificationlevels(vonPost)indominantlyoccurringfibric,fibrictohemic,sapricandhemictosapricpeatsacrossagradientfromthemargintowardsthecentreoftropicallowlandpeatdomes.Cement-peatstabilisationcanbeenhancedbyaddingmineralsoilfillers(silt,claysandfinesands)obtainedfromQuaternaryfloodplaindepositsandresidualsoil(weatheredschist).Theunconfinedcompressivestrength(UCS)ofthestabilisedcement-mineralsoilfiller-peatmixincreaseswiththeincreasedadditionofselectedmineralsoilfiller.Lateralvariationinthestabilisedpeatstrength(UCS)inthetop0to0.5mlayerwasfoundfromthemargintowardsthecentreofthetropicallowlandpeatdome.ThevariationsintheUCSofstabilisedtropicallowlandpeatsalongagradientfromtheperipherytowardsthecentreofthepeatdomearemostlikelycausedbyacombinationoffactorsduetovariationsinthemineralsoilorashcontentofthepeatandhorizontalzonationorlateralvariationinthedominantspeciesoftheplantassemblages(duetosuccessivevegetationzonationofthepeatswampforestfromtheperipherytowardsthecentreofthetropicallowlandpeatdome).
