摘要
Performance-baseddesigninearthquakeengineeringisastructuraloptimizationproblemthathas,astheobjective,thedeterminationofdesignparametersfortheminimizationoftotalcosts,whileatthesametimesatisfyingminimumreliabilitylevelsforthespecifiedperformancecriteria.Totalcostsincludethoseforconstructionandstructuraldamagerepairs,thoseassociatedwithnon-structuralcomponentsandthesocialcostsofeconomiclosses,injuriesandfatalities.Thispaperpresentsageneralframeworktoapproachthisproblem,usinganumericaloptimizationstrategyandincorporatingtheuseofneuralnetworksfortheevaluationofdynamicresponsesandthereliabilitylevelsachievedforagivensetofdesignparameters.Thestrategyisappliedtoanexampleofathree-storyofficebuilding.Theresultsshowtheimportanceofconsideringthesocialcosts,andtheoptimumfailureprobabilitieswhenminimumreliabilityconstraintsarenottakenintoaccount.
