AnintegratedinvestigationwascarriedoutduringlateApriltolateMayof2014inthecoastalareaofSouthJiangsuProvincetounderstandtheearlydevelopmentofgreentideintheYellowSeaanddiscoverthetemporalandspatialdistributionofgreenalgalmicro-propagulesandmacroalgaeattheearlystageofgreentide.Theresultsshowedthatgreenalgalmicro-propagulesdistributedinallstationsfromlateApriltolateMay,andmicro-propagulesofhighdensity(>300ind.L?1)concentratedintheadjacentPorphyraaquaculturearea.Floatingmacroalgaewereinitiallyobservedinthenorthernsurveyareas,andincreasedgradually.ThedominantspecieswasU.proliferainthefloatingmacroalgae,rangingbetween90%and100%.Theseawatersurfacetemperatureandsalinityintheabovementionedtimeperiodweresuitableforthegrowthofmacroalgae.ThisworkcanhelpgovernmenttostrengthenmanagementtoreducethebloomsofmacroalgaeinthecoastalareaofSouthJiangsuProvinceandalsofacilitatethedecision-makingformanagersattheearlystageofgreentide.
