A new spallation mechanism of thermal barrier coatings on aero-engine turbine blades

摘要 Laboratoryexperimentswereconductedtostudythespallationbehaviourofthermalbarriercoatings(TBCs)onaero-engineturbinebladesmanufacturedbytheelectron-beamphysicalvapourdepositiontechnique(EB-PVD).Intactbladeswereheatedattemperature1135°Cinafurnaceforcertaintimeandthencooledtotheroomtemperatureinthelaboratorycondition.Itwasfoundthatnospallationoccurredduringcooling,butspallationhappenedatconstantroomtemperatureaftercooling.Thespallationmechanismisstudiedbyusingthemechanicalmodeldeveloped(Harvey2017andWang2017),whicharebasedonthehypothesisofpocketsofenergyconcentration(PECs).Someobservationsofthespallationbehaviourarewellpredictedbythemodel.
