摘要 Heavyionirradiationattractalargeinterestfortwoapplications:radiotherapyandspaceradiationprotectioninmannedspacemissions.ExposuretoheavyionsradiationresultsinmultipleeffectsthroughDNAdamageinduction.Single-cellgelelectrophoresisorcometassayisknownforitsabilitytodetectDNAdamageatthesinglecelllevelandhasbeenusedforyearstoassessDNAdamage.ItcandetectlowlevelsofDNAstrandbreaksinashorttime,justusingafewsamplecells.DNAdoublestrandbreaks(DSBs)aremeasuredattheneutralcometassaycondition;underthealkalinecometassayconditionbothDNAsinglestrandbreaks(SSBs)andpartDSBsaredetected.Thetwodimensionalcometassayisamodificationofthetwooriginalcometassay,cansimultaneouslydetectDNASSBsandDSBsinthesamehumanspermatozoa.
