摘要
Sinceitsoriginaldescription,theFontanoperationhasbeenwidelyusedforthepalliationofchildrenwithsingleventriclephysiologyandhasresultedinanincreasingnumberofthesepatientssurvivingtoadulthood.TheFontanoperationisauniqueapproachtocreateacirculationinserieswithouttwodistinctpumpingchambers.AlthoughtheFontanoperationincreasedthesurvivalratesofpatientswithsingleventriclephysiology,itcarriesaninevitableriskoflong-termmorbiditiesthatimpactstheoutcomesandqualityoflifeinthesepatients.Inthisreview,wediscussthechallengesresultingfromtheuniquepathophysiologyofFontancirculationandproposemanagementstrategies.
