Crustal structure in northern margin of Tianshan mountains and seismotectonics of the 1906 Manas earthquake

摘要 Thethin-skinnedstructureinthecrustofthenorthernTianshanpiedmontisexploredbyan86-km-long,NS-trendingdeepseismicreflectionprofilethroughtheürümqidepressionofthenorthmarginoftheTianshanmoun-tains.OntheCDPstackingsection,thefirst-andsecond-rowparalleltoanticlinesinthenorthmarginoftheTian-shanmountainsareshownonthesegmenttothesouthoftheShihezi.Thedetachments,correspondingtothereflectioneventsatTWT2.5~3.0sand5.5~6.0srespectively,jointhecrustaldeepstructuretothereversefault-foldzone.TheManasthrustextendsdownwardsinlistricshape,mergesintothedetachmentataboutTWT2.5sandjoinstotheQingshuihethrust.Thereflectioneventson5.5~6.0sarecorrespondingtothemaindetachment,whichjoinsthelowerManasanticline,andfinallyconvergetotheJunggarSouthernMarginalFault.A12~14km-thicksedimentarybasinexistsontheregioninthenorthtotheShihezi.ThedepthoftheMohodiscontinuitybe-neaththeJunggarbasinisabout45km,andincreasessouthwardsto50km.ThecrustalstructureinferredfromthedeepseismicsoundingprofileandtheBougueranomalyinthesameregionisconsistentwiththeimagefromthedeepseismicreflectionprofile.Theseismogenicmodelofthe1906Manasearthquakeisrelatedtothefaultsystem,whichconsistsoftheQingshuihethrust,thedetachmentsandtheshallowManasramp.
