摘要
Therelationshipbetweentheauroralovalpattern,i.e.,location,size,shape,andintensity,andtheauroralelectrojetactivityindex(AEindex)isstudied.Itisfoundthatthemaximalauroralintensityisellipticallydistributed,andthelengthsofsemimajorandsemiminoraxesarepositivelycorrelatedtoAE.TheintensityalongthenormaloftheauroralovalcanbesatisfyinglydescribedbyaGaussiandistribution,andthemaximumandthefullwidthathalfmaximumoftheGaussiandistributionarebothpositivelycorrelatedtoAE.Basedonthesestatisticalresults,aseriesofexperimentalformulasasafunctionofAEaredevelopedtocalculatethelocation,size,shape,andintensityoftheauroraloval.TheseformulasarevalidatedbytheauroralimagesreleasedbySWPC/NOAA.
