摘要
IsarisingChinagoodforthestabilityandintegrationoftheAsia-Pacificregion?ThedominantpointofviewintheWesternworldisaresoundingno.However,thatrealistpointofview,basedontheverydifferentexperiencesofEurope,isnotappropriateintheAsia-Pacificcontext.AreastudiesareausefultooltoachieveabetterunderstandingoftheAsia-Pacificsituation.ThispaperattemptstoprovethatarisingChinawillbegoodforthestabilityandintegrationoftheAsia-Pacificregionthroughthelensofhistorical,economicandsecurityanalyses.First,historyshowsthatonceChinaisstrongandstable,orderoftheAsia-Pacificregionispreserved.Second,withChina'seconomiccooperationwithneighboringcountries,especiallyafteritsentryintotheWorldTradeOrganization(WTO),China'seconomicintegrationwiththeAsia-Pacificregionhasbeenenhanced.Third,regionalsecurityhasbeenassuredbyapeacefulandstrongChina.Finally,thepapercomestotheconclusionthatastableandstrongChinaisbeneficialfortheoverallstabilityandintegrationoftheAsia-Pacificregion.
