摘要
ChinaisplayingacrucialroleintheObamaadministration'sattempttobuilda'multi-partnerworld'basedoncooperationandsharedresponsibilities.Inlightoftheprofoundgeo-economictransformationsof2008-2009,theUnitedStateshaslittlechoicebuttostriveforpartnership,especiallywiththecountrythatisWashington'smajorcreditor.Obama'sforeignpolicyapproach,however,goesbeyondamerepragmaticadaptationtothenewrealitiesandconstitutesauniquewindowofopportunityfortheestablishmentofanunprecedentedlevelofU.S.-Chinacooperation.FromaEuropeanperspective,thepositiveevolutioninU.S.-Chinacooperationhasbeenwelcomedasakeycontributiontotheresolutionoftheglobalproblemsconfrontingtheplanet.TheEuropeanUnionhasneverthelessreactedwithapprehensiontothesuggestionsbyAmericancommentatorsforthecreationofaU.S.-China'G-2'.ThatissuewasdiscussedattheEU-ChinaSummitunderlinestheseriousnessoftheproposalandserves,initself,asasignificantindicatorofthegreattransformationofintemationalrelationscharacterizingtheyears2008-2009.
