简介:Thisstudyaimstoexploregenerationmechanismsoftheoceaninternalwaveusingthedynamicalanalysismethodsbasedonlineartheories.Historicalcruisemeasurementsandrecentsyntheticapertureradar(SAR)observationsofmesoscaleeddieswithdiameterofseveraltensofkilometerstohundredsofkilometersshowthattheinternalwavepacketswithwavelengthofhundredsofmeterstokilometerexistinsidethemesoscaleeddies.Thiscoexistencephenomenonandinherentlinksbetweenthetwodifferentscaleprocessesarerevealedinthesolutionsofgoverningequationsandboundaryconditionsfortheinternalwavedisturbancewithahorizontallyslowlyvariableamplitudeinacylindricalcoordinatesystem.Thetheoreticalsolutionsindicatethattheinstabilityofeddycurrentfieldprovidesthedynamicalmechanismtointernalwavegeneration.Thederiveddispersionrelationindicatesthattheinternalwavepropagationismodifiedbytheeddycurrentfieldstructure.Theenergyequationoftheinternalwavesclearlyshowstheinternalwaveenergyincrementcomesfromtheeddy.Thetheoreticalmodelsareusedtoexplaintheobservationofthemesoscaleeddy-inducedinternalwavesofftheNorwegiancoast.Thetwo-dimensionalwaveformsolutionoftheanticycloniceddy-inducedinternalwavepacketappearsasring-shapedcurves,whichcontainsthetypicalfeaturesofeddystreamlines.ThecomparisonoftheoreticalsolutionstothestructureoftheinternalwavepacketsonSARimageshowsagoodagreementonthemajorfeatures.
