  • 简介:Thispaperproposesanewdistributedwavelength-routedopticalburstswitching(WR-OBS)networkarchitectureandtwocorrespondingcontrolprotocols.Bytakingadvantageofmeritsfrombothjustenoughtime(JET)protocolandtwo-waysignalingmethod,thisnewcontrolarchitectureoutperformstraditionalJETOBSnetworkinpointsofburstlossprobability,systemthroughputandcentralizedWROBSnetworkinnetworkscalabilityconfirmedbycomputersimulations.Furthersimulationisdevelopedtocomparetheperformanceofthetwocontrolprotocols,whichleadstoinstructivediscussioninrealWR-OBSnetworkdesign.

  • 简介:Therandomphaseerrorsoftheopticalcarriersarediscussedandcontrolledforpassivemillimeter-wavesparseaperture(PMMWSA)upconversionimaging.Atwo-channelmodelissetupforanalyzingcharacteristicsofthephaseerrors,andanactiveopticalcontroltechniquebasedonstochasticparallelgradientdecentalgorithm(SPGDcontroller)isproposedtocalibratethephaseerrors.TodemonstratethefeasibilityoftheSPGDcontroller,simulationsareperformedandanexperimentalsystemwithatwo-channelfiberarrayissetup.SimulationandexperimentresultsshowthattheSPGDcontrollercaneffectivelyandrapidlycompensatethephaseerrorsoftheopticalcarrier,andtheaccuracyofthephasecontrolissufficientforimagingsystems.

  • 简介:Aperiodiclayeredmedium,withunitcellsconsistingofadielectricandanelectromagnetically-inducedtransparency(EIT)-basedatomicvapor,isdesignedforlightpropagationmanipulation.Consideringthatadestructivequantuminterferencerelevanttoatwo-photonresonanceemergesinEIT-basedatomsinteractingwithbothcontrolandprobefields,anEIT-basedperiodiclayeredmediumexhibitsaflexiblefrequency-sensitiveopticalresponse,whereaverysmallvariationintheprobefrequencycanleadtoadrasticvariationinreflectanceandtransmittance.ThepresentEIT-basedperiodiclayeredstructurecanresultincontrollableopticalprocessesthatdependsensitivelyontheexternalcontrolfield.Thetunableandsensitiveopticalresponseinducedbythequantuminterferenceofamulti-levelatomicsystemcanbeappliedinthefabricationofnewphotonicandquantumopticaldevices.Thismaterialwillalsoopenagoodperspectivefortheapplicationofsuchdesignsinseveralnewfields,includingphotonicmicrocircuitsorintegratedopticalcircuits.
