  • 简介:ConyzabliniiLevl.(Compositae),commonlycalledJinLongDanCao,isdistributedinsouthwestdistrictsofChina.Itsaerialpartsareusedinfolkmedicineforthetreatmentofchronicbronchitis,gastroenteritisandotherinflammatorydiseases.PreliminarypharmacologicalandclinicaltestsshowedthattheaerialpartsofC.bliniipossessedexpectorant,antitussive,antiinflammatoryandantibacterialeffects.AlthoughmanyotherplantsofConyzahavebeenstudiedphytochemically,therehavebeenrarereportsonthechemicalconstituentsofC.blinii.Moreover,studiesonthesaponinsofConyzaplantshavenotbeenobserveduntilnow.Therefore,weconductedadetailedphvtochemicalinvestigationandextensivebioassaysonC.blinii.

  • 简介:Thepotentialsofmulti-scaledesignthatcombinesbothnanoscaleandmicroscalemechanismsforbiocatalysisinvolvingmultipleenzymesandcofactor(s)areexamined.Performanceofthesecomplexsystemsdependsonproperinteractionsamongtheenzymesandcofactor(s).Inthiswork,nanoparticle-basedmultipleenzymesandtetheredcofactoraredesignedtostimulatesuchinteractions.Furthermore,thenanostructuresareencapsulatedinmicrocapsuleswithmembranespossessingporesthatarecomparabletothesizeofnanoparticles.Whilethenanoparticlesarethe'motor'driving.thecomplexreactionsinsidethecapsules,thenano-sizedporesofthemicrospheresallowefficientmoleculardiffusionforrapidreactantsupplyandproductremoval.Themicrocapsulescanthenbeusedinformofpackedbedorsuspensionreactorsforlarge-scaleindustrialoperations.Themulti-leveldesignprovidesthemechanismformatchingreactionandmasstransferrates,andforoptimizingthevolumetricproductivity.Thisstudyshowcasesaninterestingconceptwhichentailsinteractionsamongnanostructuredmultipleenzymesandcofactor,theintegrationofcomplexnano-scalecatalyticstructuresintomicro-scaleandthenindustrialprocess-scalesystemsforlong-termcontinuousoperations.

  • 简介:Thepresentstudywasconductedtoevaluatethefeasibilityofreplacingfishmeal(FM)withbioactivepeptides(BPs)indietofwhiteshrimp(Litopenaeusvannamei).Thechangesingrowthperformance,bodycomposition,non-specificimmunity,andwaterqualitywereexaminedaftertheshrimpwerefedfourdiets,inwhich0%(control),33.3%,66.7%and100%ofFMwasreplacedbyBPs,respectively.ThegroupsweredesignatedasCon,1/3BPs,2/3BPs,and3/3BPs.Atotalof720shrimpwithaninitialbodyweightof1.46±0.78gwerefedtheexperimentaldietsfor56days.Theresultsrevealedthat:1)theweightgainrate(WGR)in1/3BPs,2/3BPs,and3/3BPswassignificantlyhigherthanthatinCon(P<0.05),whilenosignificantdifferencewasfoundonsurvivalrateandfeedconversionratio(FCR);2)thewhole-bodycrudeprotein(CP)andcrudelipids(CL)weresignificantlydifferentamonggroups,whiletherewasnosignificantdifferencebetweencrudeashandphosphoruscontents;3)thelevelsofacidphosphatase(ACP),lysozyme(LZM),superoxidedismutase(SOD),phenoloxidase(PO)andbactericidalactivityincreasedsignificantlywiththeinclusionofBPs;4)intermsofwaterquality,nosignificantdifferencewasfoundinpHanddissolvedoxygenamongdietsduringthewholeexperimentalperiod.Moreover,eventhoughnitriteandammoniumlevelstendedtoincreasewithtime,therewasnosignificantdifferenceamonggroups.TheresultsindicatedthatBPsisanapplicablealternativeofproteinsource,whichcansubstituteFMinthedietsofL.vannamei;itisabletoeffectivelypromotegrowthperformanceandimproveimmunity.Moreover,BPsinthedietshadnonegativeimpactonwaterquality.

  • 简介:ThreespeciesofspongesandatunicatewerecollectedfromObhurcreekofJeddahcoastforthisbioactivitystudy.Inordertoassesstheantifoulingefficacyofselectedmarineorganisms,methanolicextractsoftheseorganismsweretestedagainstdifferentfoulingbacterialformsandII-instarstageofthebarnacle,Balanusamphitrite.Antibiosis,bioactivityandfollowedbymultivariateanalyseswerecarriedouttochecktheefficacyofantifoulingeffectoftheselectedmarineorganisms.PrincipalcomponentanalysisrevealedtheexemplaryantifoulingefficacyofthespongeextractsofStylissasp.observedfollowedbyHyrtiossp.againstbacterialformsinthelaboratorystudy.De-trendedcorrespondenceanalysisconfirmedthatthecontributionofantifoulingefficacyoftheselectedspongeextractswasobservedtobemoretowardsBacillussp.,Vibriosp.andAlteromonassp.Moreover,theefficacyofHyrtiossp.extract(20.430μgmL-1)followedbyStylissasp.(30.945μgmL-1)showedhigheragainstbarnacleinstarcomparedwithotherextractsinthebioactivityassay.Bray-Curtisclusteranalysisunderpairedlinkagecategorizedallthespongeextractsintoonemajorclusterwith75%similarity,andoneoutliertunicate.Morethan80%similarityobservedbetweenHyrtiossp.andStylissasp.Fouriertransforminfraredspectroscopy(FTIR)showedthatthecontributionofmajorpeaksfoundinthemarineorganismsweretowardssulfones,sulfoxides,cyanatesandketones.

  • 简介:Presentstudywasconductedtocharacterisetenrice(OryzasativaL.)cultivarsviz.IET-23466,Dhan-201,IET-23448,MAS-946,IET-23445,IET-23463,IET-23455,PR-123,PR-115andIET-23449basedonantioxidants(totalphenolics,flavonolsandtannins),bioactivecompounds(phyticacid,gammaaminobutyricacid,tocopherolandreducedascorbate)andantioxidantactivity(1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazylradicalscavengingactivity,hydroxylradicalscavengingactivity,freeradicalantioxidantpowerandtotalreducingpower)withanaimtoidentifycultivarscontaininghigherhealthpromotingcomponentsaftergermination.ThreecultivarsIET-23466,IET-23463andPR-123performedbetterasrevealedbyhigherlevelofantioxidants,bioactivecompoundsandantioxidantactivitybeforeandaftergermination.ThreecultivarsMAS-946,IET-23445andIET-23449hadmoderatelevelofantioxidants,bioactivecompoundsandantioxidantactivity.FourcultivarsDhan-201,IET-23448,IET-23455andPR-115performedintermediately.Strongpositivecorrelationwasobservedamongtotalphenolicsandtheantioxidantactivity.Phyticacidwasfoundtobenegativelycorrelatedtotheantioxidantactivity.OurresultshighlightedthatcultivarsIET-23466,IET-23463andPR-123holdgreatpotentialaftergerminationandwouldopenupausefulopportunityforthefunctionalfoodindustry,andconsumptionofthesecultivarsaftergerminationwouldaffordhealthbenefitstoconsumerssincetheycontainhigherlevelofantioxidants.
