摘要
Characterisationofflowabilityofsmallquantitiesofcohesivepowdersisofgreatindustrialinterest,particularlyforthepharmaceuticalsec-tors,wherealimitedamountofmaterialisavailableorthematerialisnoteasilyaccessible.Inthispaper,ballindentationonapowderbedisevaluatedforflowcharacterisationofsmallquantitiesofcohesivepowdersatlowlevelsofconsolidationpressures.Inparallel,thebulkpowderissubjectedtothecommontestmethodofunconfineddirectcompression.Analogoustoindentationhardnesstesting,forwhichtheindentationpressureisrelatedtotheflowstress,aconstraintfactor(C)isdefinedrelatingtheunconfinedyieldstressandindentationpres-sure.Theconstraintfactorsforthetestpowdershavebeenevaluated,enablinganeasymethodtocharacterizetheflowbehaviourofcohesivepowders.
