摘要
Neuroprotectionbyischemicpreconditioninghasbeenconfirmedbymanystudies,buttheprecisemechanismremainsunclear.Inthepresentstudy,weperformedcerebralischemicpreconditioninginratsbysimulatingatransientischemicattacktwice(eacha20-minuteocclusionofthemiddlecerebralartery)beforeinducingfocalcerebralinfarction(2hourocclusion-reperfusioninthesameartery).Wealsoexploredthemechanismunderlyingtheneuroprotectiveeffectofischemicpreconditioning.Sevendaysafterocclusion-reperfusion,tetrazoliumchloridestainingandimmunohistochemistryrevealedthattheinfarctvolumewassignificantlysmallerinthegroupthatunderwentpreconditioningthaninthemodelgroup.Furthermore,vascularendothelialgrowthfactorimmunoreactivitywasconsiderablygreaterinthehippocampalCA3regionofpreconditionedratsthanmodelrats.Ourresultssuggestthattheprotectiveeffectsofischemicpreconditioningonfocalcerebralinfarctionareassociatedwithupregulationofvascularendothelialgrowthfactor.
