摘要 Endothelialprogenitorcellsareresidentinthebonemarrowbloodsinusoidsandcirculateintheperipheralcirculation.Theymobilizefromthebonemarrowaftervascularinjuryandhometothesiteofinjurywheretheydifferentiateintoendothelialcells.Activationandmobilizationofendothelialprogenitorcellsfromthebonemarrowisinducedviatheproductionandreleaseofendothelialprogenitorcell-activatingfactorsandincludesspecificgrowthfactorsandcytokinesinresponsetoperipheraltissuehypoxiasuchasafteracuteischemicstrokeortrauma.Endothelialprogenitorcellsmigrateandhometospecificsitesfollowingischemicstrokeviagrowthfactor/cytokinegradients.Somegrowthfactorsarelessstableunderacidicconditionsoftissueischemia,andsyntheticanaloguesthatarestableatlowpHmayprovideamoreeffectivetherapeuticapproachforinducingendothelialprogenitorcellmobilizationandpromotingcerebralneovascularizationfollowingischemicstroke.
