Ithasbeenwellstudiedthattheγ-functionexplicitmethodcanbeeffectiveinprovidingfavorablenumericaldissipationforlinearelasticsystems.However,itsperformancefornonlinearsystemsisunclearduetoalackofanalyticalevaluationtechniques.Thus,anoveltechniqueisproposedhereintoevaluateitsefficiencyforapplicationtononlinearsystemsbyintroducingtwoparameterstodescribethestiffnesschange.Asaresult,thenumericalpropertiesanderrorpropagationcharacteristicsoftheγ-functionexplicitmethodforthepseudodynamictestingofanonlinearsystemareanalyticallyassessed.Itisfoundthattheupperstabilitylimitdecreasesasthestepdegreeofnonlinearityincreases;anditincreasesasthecurrentdegreeofnonlinearityincreases.Itisalsoshownthatthisintegrationmethodprovidesfavorablenumericaldissipationnotonlyforlinearelasticsystemsbutalsofornonlinearsystems.Furthermore,errorpropagationanalysisrevealsthatthenumericaldissipationcaneffectivelysuppressthesevereerrorpropagationofhighfrequencymodeswhilethelowfrequencyresponsesarealmostunaffectedforbothlinearelasticandnonlinearsystems.
