TheimportanceoftheInternettomodernHighEnergyPhysicsCollaboratorsisclearlyimmense,andunderstandinghownewdevelopmentsinnetworktechnologyimpactnetworksiscriticaltothefuturedesignofexperiments.ThenextgenerationInternetProtocol(IPv6)isbeingdeployedontestbedsandproductionnetworksthroughouttheworld.Theprotocolhasbeendesignedtosolvetodaysinternetproblems,andmanyofthefeatureswillbecoreInternetservicesinthefuture.Inthistalkthefeaturesoftheprotocolwillbedescribed.DetailswillbegivenonthedeploymentatsitesimportanttoHighEnergyPhysicsResearchandthenetworkservicesoperatingatthesesites,InparticularIPv6deploymentontheU.S.EnergySciencesNetwork(ESnet)willbereviewed.TheconnectivityandperformancebetweenHighEnergyPhysicsLaboratories,UniversitiesandInstituteswillbediscussed.
