  • 简介:Anovelfabricationprocessformicropatternswithcurvaturewasintroduced.Thecurvedstructuresweremadebycompensatingrectangularmicrostructureswithliquidphotoresistlayer.Becauseofthesurfacetensionoftheliquidinmicroscale,variousshapesofmeniscuscanbemadeonthemicrochannels.Themicrochannelsweremadeonthesiliconsubstrateinadvance,andthentheliquidlayerwascoatedonthemicrochannels.Fromthenatureofliquidbehavior,thecurvedpatternswithsmoothsurfaceareobtained,whichcannotbemadeeasilywiththeconventionalmechanicalmachining,aswellaswiththemicrofabricationprocesses,suchaswetanddryetching.Withthisprinciple,itisexpectedthatthesmoothandcurvedsurfacescanbemadebysimpleprocessesandtheresultscanbeappliedwidely,suchasopticalpatterns.

  • 简介:Thechaotictransientsofacurvedfluidconveyingtubesubjectedtoanonlinearfoundationareinvestigated.TheassumptionoftheinextensibilityofthetubeisappliedtoderivethenonlineardifferentialequationofmotionviatheNewtonianapproach,withthedifferentialquadraturemethodusedtodiscretizethecurvedtubemodelinthespatialdomain.Andthenonlineardynamicmotionequationisobtained.Thenumericalanalysisshowsthat,thefinalsteadystatesaresensitivetotheinitialsystemconditionsinalargeparameterregionofthefluidspeed.Thisphenomenonofchaotictransientsisinfrequentforfluidconveyingtubes.

  • 简介:Thechangesofthedevelopingturbulentflowcharacteristicsincurvedductafteraddingabafflearestudiednumericallyatthebody-fittedcoordinates.ak-εmodelisusedtorepresenttheturbulence.acurvedductofrectangularcross-sectioniscomputedfirstly,ithasbeenobservedthatthepredictionsusingtheprocedureagreeverysatisfactorywiththeexperimentaldata.Then,twokindsofsquareductsarestudied,oneisnormalcurvedduct,theotherisaductwithabaffle.Thecomputationalresultsarepresentedandcomparedtoeachother,inordertodisplaythechangesoftheflowafteraddingabaffleincurvedducts.Thesecondaryflowinaductwithabaffleischaracterizedbyfour-vorticesstructurewiththeoutertwobiggerthantheinnertwo.Besides,comparedwiththeductwithoutabaffle,theintensityofthesecondaryflowsisreduced,whichresultsintheflowfieldofthecross-sectionmuchmoreequableandhasmuchmoresignificantmeaningintheengineering.

  • 简介:Wetheoreticallyinvestigatethetransportpropertyofgraphenesurfaceplasmonpolaritons(GSPPs)oncurvedgraphenesubstrates.Thedispersionrelationship,propagationlength,andfieldconfinementarecalculatedbyananalyticalmethodandcomparedwiththoseonplanarsubstrates.Basedonourtheory,thebendofgraphenenearlydoesnotaffectthepropertyofGSPPsexceptforanextremelysmallshifttothelowerfrequencyforthesameeffectivemodeindex.ThefielddistributionsandtheeigenfrequenciesofGSPPsonplanarandcylindricalsubstratesarecalculatedbythefiniteelementmethod,whichvalidatesourtheoreticalanalysis.Moreover,threetypesofgraphene-guidedopticalinterconnectionsofGSPPs,namely,planartocurvedgraphenefilm,curvedtoplanargraphenefilm,andcurvedtocurvedgraphenefilm,areproposedandexaminedindetail.ThetheoreticalresultsshowthattheGSPPspropagationoncurvedgraphenesubstratesandinterconnectionswillnotinduceanyadditionallossesifthephase-matchingconditionissatisfied.Additionally,theextremetinysizeofcurvedgrapheneforinterconnectionatacertainspectrarangeispredictedbyourtheoryandvalidatedbythesimulationof90°turningofGSPPs.ThebendingeffectonthepropertyofGSPPsissystematicallyanalyzedandidentified.OurstudieswouldbehelpfultoinstructdesignofplasmonicdevicesinvolvingcurvedGSPPs,suchasnanophotoniccircuits,flexibleplasmonic,andbiocompatibledevices.

  • 简介:BasedonexactGreenstrainofspatialcurvedbeam,thenonlinearstrain-displacementrelationforplanecurvedbeamwithvaryingcurvatureisderived.Insteadofusingthepreviousstraightbeamelements,curvedbeamelementsareusedtoapproximatethecurvedbeamwithvaryingcurvature.Basedonvirtualworkprinciple,rigid-flexiblecouplingdynamicequationsareobtained.Physicalexperimentswerecarriedouttocapturethelargeoverallmotionandthestrainofcurvedbeamtoverifythepresentrigid-flexiblecouplingformulationforcurvedbeambasedoncurvedbeamelement.Numericalresultsobtainedfromsimulationswerecomparedwiththoseresultsfromthephysicalexperiments.Inordertoillustratetheeffectivenessofthecurvedbeamelementmethodology,thesimulationresultsofpresentcurvedbeamelementsarecomparedwiththoseobtainedbypreviousstraightbeamelements.Thedynamicbehaviorofaslider-crankmechanismwithaninitiallycurvedelasticconnectingrodisinvestigated.Theadvantageofemployinggeneralized-αmethodispointedoutandthespecialnonlineardynamiccharacteristicsofthecurvedbeamareconcluded.
