ThegoalofthisworkwastoevaluateChina’surbangreendevelopment.Tentypicalcitiesbelongingtofourtypeswerechosenascasestudies:Beijing,Shanghai,Suzhou,Wuxi,Nanjing,Xi’an,Wuhan,Nanning,WeihaiandYichang.WeusedtheCLDmodelfromsystemdynamicstoanalyzethecomplexrelationshipsbetweenvariouselementsofcitydevelopment,includingresourcesandenvironmentalconditions,degreeofsocialdevelopment,economicdevelopmentandadministrativecapacity.Thesefourelements—environmental,social,economic,andadministrative—wereusedtobuildagreendevelopmentassessmentframeworkforChinesecities.Uponbuildingtheevaluationsystem,47evaluationindicatorswerechosen.Theresultsshowthatthecomprehensivevaluesforgreendevelopmentinthesetenrepresentativecitieswerealllow,meaningthatthereisalargegapbetweenurbandevelopmentandgreensustainabledevelopment.Manyaspectsofgreendevelopmentneedtobesubstantiallyenhanced,suchasgoverningenvironmentalproblems,alleviatingresourcepressures,enhancingeconomicefficiency,andincreasingthegreeneconomy.
