  • 简介:TheFiniteAnalyticMethod(FAM)isanewnumericalmethodforsolvingNavier-Stokesequations.However,oncomplexgeometricdomainsthismethodmustemploytheboundary-fittedcoordinatetransformation,whichbecomesverydifficultforsomeflowregions.Inthispaper,theIsoparametricElement,whichhasbeenwidelyusedintheFiniteElementMethod,isincorporatedintotheFAM.Theflowregionissubdividedintoanumberofsmallar-bitaryquadrilaterals,andeachelementistransformedintoasquareelementbytheshapefunc-tionsofIsoparametricElement.ThenthepartialdifferentialequationsonthesquareelementcanbesolvedbytheFAM.Asanexample,theflowintubebundleshasbeencalculatedbythismethod.

  • 简介:Theproblemofwavepartial/fullreflectionandtransmissionbywave-permeablestructureisapproachedbysolvingtheshape-relatedfunctionwithfocusontheunderstandingofwaveattenuation.2Ddepth-averagedBoussinesqtypewaveequationsaregivenwithnewdampingiteminsimulatingthenonlinearwavetransmissionthroughwave-permeablestructure.1Dwaveequationisexaminedtogivetheanalyticalexpressionoftheabsorbingcoefficient,andiscomparedwithlaboratorydatainflumetocalibratethecoefficients,andtheexpressionisapplieddirectlyinmodifiedBoussinesqtypeequations.Comparedwithwavebasindataforvariousincidentwaveconditions,theaccuratepredictionsofcombineddiffraction-refractioneffectsinsimulatingnonlinearwavegoingthroughwave-permeablebreakwaterintheengineeringapplicationcanbeobtained.Itshowsthatwave-permeablebreakwaterswithproperabsorbingeffectscanbeusedasaneffectivealternativetomassivegravitybreakwatersinreductionofwavetransmissioninshallowwater.

  • 简介:FlowsaroundacircularcylinderdisplayinganunsteadyvortexsheddingprocessattheReynoldsnumbersof1000,3900and1×104arestudiedusingafinite-volumeTotalVariationDiminishing(TVD)schemeforsolvingtheUnsteadyReynolds-AveragedNavier-Stokes(URANS)equations.AnElementalVelocityVectorTransformation(EVVT)approachisproposedforthelocalnormalandtangentialvelocitytransformationattheinterfacesofmainandsatelliteelements.Thepresentedmethodisvalidatedbycomparingwiththeavailableexperimentaldataandnumericalresults.Itisshownthatthetwo-dimensionalTVDfinitevolumemethodwiththeRenormalizationGroup(RNG)turbulencemodelcanbeusedtodeterminehydrodynamicforcesandcapturesvortexsheddingcharacteristicsverywell.
