简介:Thispaperassessedcarryingcapacity,qualityofteachingstaff,andcompliancelevelofselectedprivateuniversitiesinSouthwesternNigeriatoextantrulesoftheNationalUniversitiesCommission(NUC).Thedescriptivesurveyresearchdesignwasadoptedforthestudy.Twothousandthreehundredandtwenty-fourrespondentsfromtheselecteduniversitiesconstitutedthesampleforthestudy.Sixprincipalofficers,200teachingstaff,and1,500studentswereselectedfromthefoursampledprivateuniversitiesbyusingproportionatestratifiedsamplingtechnique.Twoself-designedinstrumentswereusedfordatacollection,whilefrequencycountsandpercentageswereusedfordataanalysis.Thestudyfoundremarkableadherencetocarryingcapacitylevels,satisfactoryqualityofteachingstaff,andsubstantialcomplianceleveltothenationaladmissionrequirements.Itrecommendedthatthefederalgovernmentshouldestablishscholarshipandloansboardforstudents’easeofaccesstotheprivateuniversities,NUCshouldintensifyandsustainstrictmonitoringofacademicprogrammes,andtheprivateuniversitiesshouldcarryoutenlightenmentprogrammestoensurequalityamongotherrecommendations.
